Dot3D has the ability to embed size information via TIFF tags.
Setting the correct view and coordinate system
To create an orthophoto from your data, first make sure that you have an active coordinate system where Z is pointing upwards along gravity.
If your scan is from an iOS platform (iPhone, iPad) this is automatically the case and you don't need to change anything.
If your scan is from a different platform, go to Edit --> Coordinates and set a user coordinate system accordingly.
Next, on the bottom right of the screen in scene view, select "View Options" --> "Top Down" and then activate Ortho View.
If the scene appears rotated you may have to set or adjust the coordinate system in Edit --> Coordinates and then re-select the View Options as outlined above.
Creating the orthophoto
To create the orthophoto, select "Screenshot" from the main menu in the scene view and enter your desired output size and format.
Note that at this point in time (Dot3D version 6.0.9) only TIFF supports the embedding of size information.
The ImageWidth and ImageLength, along with the XResolution, YResolution and ResolutionUnit define the metric scale of the image.
