Unreal Engine is a popular game creation tool that also caters to other 3D projects, such as film, architecture, and general design. The importation of point clouds can be useful for getting scan data into said projects.

Step 1: To get scan data into Unreal Engine, you must first install the required plugin. In a project, press "Edit", and then "Plugins"

Step 2: In the Plugins menu, search for "LiDAR", check the option that says "LiDAR Point Cloud Support", and then press "Restart Now" in the bottom right

Step 3: Follow the tutorial How to Merge Dot3D Frames Into a Single Unified Point Cloud in CloudCompare to prepare your e57 file to be imported.

Step 4: Select "Content Drawer" in the bottom left hand of your project, then select "Import"

Step 5: Select your file, then press "Open"

Step 6: You can now drag your imported point cloud into the viewport to put it in your project

Your scan should now be viewable and editable in your projects viewport
