Dot3D Free mode lets users try the Dot3D software for as long as they would like without purchasing any subscription. Please note that scans made in Free mode will save to the .dpx file format, which can not be converted to any other file type, and exists as a viewable only format for the free version of Dot3D. EVEN IF YOU PURCHASE A PRO OR PRIME LICENSE LATER, YOU CANNOT CONVERT A .DPX SCAN TO A FULL CAPABILITY .DP SCAN.
Dot3D Free does not require any special sign up, and is instead used by simply downloading the Dot3D software on your chosen platform, and not entering any key. As far as scanning goes, the Free mode will allow you nearly all the functionality of the paid version, with some limitations on distance measurements and photos per scene.
If you haven't already, when in Free mode you can activate a free 7 - day Trial of Dot3D Prime. This will give you all the features of Dot3D Prime, including creating .dp files and exporting to other file formats. HOWEVER, once your trial is over, Dot3D will revert back to the Free mode and will have the limitations stated above.
A license may be purchased and entered into the Dot3D software to switch it out of Free mode. Again, scans made in Free mode will not be convertible to other formats even if a subscription is purchased. Contact DotProduct Support if you have 1 or 2 important scans and they may be able to help you.
