Default Ranges for Sensors and Implications of Changing Them
With Dot3D 6.4 & up, you may now extend the range of certain sensors. However, please expect significant impairment of the data quality when extending beyond the recommended default ranges. While access to longer range data can help with reaching distant spaces and tracking across large scenes, please keep in mind that there is a significant accuracy tradeoff. Here's some more info on recommendations for each supported sensor:
Recommended Ranges:
1. iOS LiDAR: 0.33-5 m (1-16 ft).
2. Orbbec Gemini 336L: 0.5-6 m (1-20 ft)
3. RealSense D455f: 0.33-4.2 m (1-14 ft)
4. RealSense D455: 0.33-4.2 m (1-14 ft)
5. RealSense D415: 0.5-3.0 m (2-10 ft)
6. RealSense L515: 0.5-6.0 m (1.5-20 ft)
7. DPI-10 / DPI-X Kit: 0.5-3.7 m (1.5-12 ft)
