Please see below for a running list of phones recommended for use with Dot3D for 3D scanning. Android phones require an Orbbec or RealSense 3D depth camera. Apple phones only support scanning via their built-in LiDAR cameras. Note that this list is not exhaustive, but does include some of the more well tested options. On any platform, always make sure you are running the latest OS version available for the device.
Please click here to review minimum specs for all platforms. On Android, a Qualcomm Snapdragon (or comparable) chipset is required.
Recommended Phones:
- iPhone Pro (12 & up) - built-in LiDAR camera, not compatible with external cameras
- iPhone Pro Max (12 & up) - built-in LiDAR camera, not compatible with external cameras
- Samsung Galaxy S Series - external camera required, FE models not supported
- Google Pixel Series - external camera required, a models not supported
- Motorola phones meeting the minimum specs - external camera required
CABLE REQUIREMENTS: USB C-to-C 3.1+
**Please note that USB-A to USB-C adapters may not work properly for this connection. We recommend a single USB C-to-C 3.1 cable.**
