After you're done scanning and touching up your raw data, you can proceed to optimize your scene. Optimization takes the raw data you collected, and edits it to improve point positioning and color, giving you a much more accurate final result.
Optimization takes into account scene geometry, and other reference data you have input into your scan to help improve your data. Optimization does not need to be done immediately, and your raw scan gets automatically saved when you create it.
To start, press the optimize button on the top bar. Dot3D will automatically recognize any techniques it can use to help with optimization, and check their corresponding boxes. generally its best to leave all of the boxes checked.
Next, you can press "OPTIMIZE SCENE", and the software will begin the optimization process.
Optimization can take anywhere from a couple seconds, to 5-10 minutes depending on the size of the scan. It could take a little longer if the scan is exceptionally large.
