Tutorial: Using Wall-to-Wall Constraints for Targetless Accuracy Improvement in Dot3D
Wall-to-wall constraints have arrived in Dot3D 6.1+. This quick tutorial shows you how to take advantage of them in your Dot3D scans for automatic, targetless accuracy improvement. This new capability is now available before optimization in Dot3D, allowing users to:
1. Reference known measurements between parallel walls (without targets). 2. Easily flag pairs of walls as being parallel/antiparallel to each other. 3. Easily flag two areas of the same wall to ensure a continuous flat surface.
This feature is designed primarily for interiors but can be applied to any scene with large surfaces you trust as being parallel/antiparallel to each other. If more unsure of the angles of walls in relation to each other, target measurements still remain the better option. Head on over to Targeting & Constraints after scanning to give this exciting new feature a try today. Download Dot3D:www.dot3d.app/download Sign up for a FREE trial:www.dot3d.app/subscribe
1. Obtain a minimum of 3 AprilTag target coordinates (i.e. from survey instrument, measurement, reference model, another point cloud, etc.) 2. Set up a .txt target control file in the following format: AprilTag #, x, y, z AprilTag #, x, y, z AprilTag ...
Overview: AprilTags for Loop Closure provide a way for Dot3D to identify 3D points in the scene across different points in time. They do not require any additional measurement or manual input and will never decrease your optimized data quality, so ...
Plane Parallelism While scanning a floor or wall, press the plane pick button and during optimization that information will automatically be used to enhance the accuracy of the scan AprilTags for Loop Closure ...
Welcome to the Dot3D (5.0+) survey control targeting tutorial. This video will walk you through the full process of referencing known target coordinates to your Dot3D scans before optimization for the most accurate and geo-referenced results in ...
To do this, please follow these steps after optimization: 1. Navigate to Edit>Coordinates 2. Select "Set" User Defined 3. Toggle from "Set an origin" to "Set 3 points" 4. Tap/click and hold on the screen to move your crosshair onto the right location ...
