You may find it beneficial to set a scene "Origin" to help with referencing and viewing your scene data. This can help ensure your data is upright when being viewed both in Dot3D, as well as in other software.
To start, go to "Edit > Coordinates"
You will see that you already have an automatically determined coordinate system floating in space at the point you started your scan from.
You can press the "Set" button next to the User Defined option to manually determine your scenes coordinate system.
From here you can set a origin, or another known coordinate.
To set the origin, you first press the "Pick origin" button, them zoom in on the screen to the spot you would like it to fall at. You can then press and hold on that spot for a zoomed in preview, and release to set the position as the scenes new origin.
Now, you can set your Z Axis as facing up by pressing on the "Primary" Button, then selecting a point on the floor.
You can repeat this process with the "Secondary" button to align your X Axis, by pressing against a wall instead of the floor. You can also toggle between X and Y as needed.
